Every La Sirène’s candle begins with a proprietary blend of natural waxes selected for their physical properties, histories, folklore, and magical associations.
In magical practice, materials matter. We choose herbs, woods, resins, metals, stones, oils, and waters because each carries its own history, associations, physical qualities, and place within folklore and tradition. Wax should be approached with the same consideration. It is not simply the substance that keeps a wick standing upright while everything important happens around it.
At La Sirène’s, the wax itself is an ingredient in the work. We select and combine different waxes for what they contribute to the candle—both materially and symbolically—just as we would select the ingredients of any other magical formula. When the candle is lit, those materials become heat, liquid, smoke, scent, and flame. The candle is not merely a container for the work. It is the work.
THE HOUSE WAX:
La Sirène’s candles are made from a proprietary blend of waxes, selected for their physical qualities as well as their histories, folklore, and magical associations. The complete formula—and even the full list of waxes that compose it—remains a house secret.
What we will tell you is that the blend includes bayberry wax, beeswax, and coconut-soy wax, among others. Bayberry brings its long folk association with prosperity, luck, abundance, and the turning of the year. Beeswax carries an ancient relationship with sacred light, sweetness, offering, and the extraordinary labor of the hive. Coconut-soy provides a beautiful modern foundation through which these traditional waxes can work together. The rest belongs to the workshop.
FORMULA + FATE
Every intention begins with an established house formula, but I deliberately leave room for variation within it. Two Love candles are both Love candles. Two Money candles belong to the same formula and the same magical current. But they may not be precisely identical.
That variation is intentional. A particular ingredient may find its way into the foundation. A proportion may change in the final pour. Something may tell me that this candle needs a little more of one thing and a little less of another—even though I don’t yet know who will eventually receive it.
The formula establishes the intention. The variation allows fate to enter it.

MADE IN LAYERS
A La Sirène’s ritual candle is not simply mixed, poured, and finished. It is constructed in stages. The foundation is poured first, where ingredients specific to the work—or sometimes something chosen specifically for that individual candle—may be placed. Once that foundation has set, additional pours build the candle upward, incorporating the ritual formula into the wax itself.
The final portion is prepared separately. Here, the proportions of the formula may be adjusted before the candle is completed. Each layer becomes part of the whole: foundation, formula, and final pour.
