This is our other formula for Abre Camino, made in the apothecary tradition using botanicals that have been warm-infused directly into the oil during auspicious magical and astrological times.
The primary botanicals in this preparation are Road Opener herb, Motherwort herb, and Calamus root, all slowly releasing their qualities into the oil like a blossoming young dancer.
This formula is designed to be closer to what many people recognize as a traditional Abre Camino preparation, whereas my other Road Opener incense leans more toward how my family works it.
This blend is for when something feels blocked—when work has stalled, when opportunities refuse to move forward, or when the path ahead feels unclear. (That’s where Calamus comes in.) It clears stagnation and encourages movement.
Energy will always get stuck, no matter how hard you try to keep it flowing. I used to beat myself up about that. Whenever I needed to unblock or uncross something, I would associate it with doing dirty work or tapping into dark energies. But no—even the cleanest operators get blocked. That’s simply part of what we’re dealt.
Staying in the lighter shades of magic and character certainly keeps one clearer, of course. But even those who heal take on the energies that have been dealt to their patients. Just like a de-parasitizing cleanse, it’s good to reset and clear things out every few months.
Use it to dress candles, anoint your tools, or work it into your personal rituals when the road needs a little help opening again. You can even wear it.
