Divine Masculine: Quicksilver / Mercury Current Oil

The divine masculine line continues to unfold—evolving within my mind, my practice, and my understanding of how h rficial or aesthetic, but as something spiritual. Something lived. Something inhabited.

My godmother once published a powerful essay—recognized by the New York Times—about living with dual spirits. That idea stays with me. It opens the question: how many genders exist within us, spiritually? Because it’s not just one. It’s many.

As a gay man, I naturally gravitate toward strong female divinities. The masculine spirits within my court tend to be androgynous, feminine, or deeply sexual. That, too, is part of me—a masculine current I’ve learned to accept, though I know there is still healing unfolding within it.

Quicksilver is about encountering Mercury not just as a deity, but as liminality itself—the in-between made manifest. It is the awareness of the many versions of self that exist simultaneously within us. Because we are not singular beings. We are layered.

How many spirits live within you?
How many forms do you carry?
How many selves move through your body?

Quicksilver is movement in all directions—forward, backward, sideways, and everywhere in between. As a former dancer, this resonates deeply. In modern dance, we explored the spaces that classical forms often ignore—the transitions, the subtle shifts, the in-between moments. Movement not just as technique, but as intention. As presence.

And within that movement, there is joy. There is play. Because Mercury is also a trickster—one who disrupts, bends rules, and tests boundaries. Without that disruption, nothing evolves. Society does not shift without those who are willing to push against it.

I think of drag—of people embodying and exaggerating gender as art. When drag began, it was dangerous. Punk. Defiant. Now that it has entered the mainstream, it continues to push new boundaries in different ways. That tension remains necessary.

This is for those who make others uncomfortable simply by existing outside of expectation. Those who challenge roles, redefine gender, and refuse containment.

This is an ode to you. Because without you, there is no future.

And this is also an offering to our ancestors within the LGBTQ+ community—those who walked these liminal paths before us. Those who held the line in the in-between spaces so we could exist more freely today.
We honor your spirits. We move because you moved.

Scent: A cool, fluid composition of soft citrus lift, clean florals, and subtly sweet resins. The scent moves lightly—fresh, airy, and controlled. Violet and musk create a smooth, almost metallic-cool undertone that stabilizes without weighing the blend down.

PRAYER TO QUICKSILVER
Mercury—
Quick at the feet,
Silver in motion,
Spirit of the in-between—
Move through me as shifting form and living current.
Make my body a crossing point.
Make my voice a shifting current.
Make my presence undeniable
And uncontainable.
I am not one thing.
I am many.
Mercury—
Quicksilver, ever-changing—
Ancestors of the in-between, walk with me.
Stay near
As I walk between.
and
Hail Thrice Great Mercury!
