Enchantress Oil was created on the go with the intention of gifting it to one of my regular customers. From time to time I develop energetic connections with certain people who shop here, and when I’m packing their orders I sometimes end up reading or sensing their energy. It can make packing orders a slower process because I end up going somewhere energetically that I didn’t plan to go.
I’m still learning how to understand and manage my gifts. Like everyone else, I have a lot going on in life, and the world certainly isn’t getting any easier. During this period my abilities have been shifting and growing, and it’s become clear that I need to return to being a student again while continuing my practice and working with the people who come through this shop. I’m simply doing what Spirit seems to be asking me to do.
Enchantress was born in one of those quick moments of inspiration—a little download that came through while I was preparing that order. I was genuinely happy to make it, and it came from a place of love and appreciation.
Because of that, I believe the oil carries that energy. When I tried it myself, I noticed the way people responded to me immediately wherever I went. In Llewellyn’s Complete Formulary, Enchantress is described as an oil for compelling, tempting, and taunting. It is traditionally used for job seeking, love work, and drawing toward you the things that you desire.
The original recipe called for acacia and wisteria, but I did not have acacia on hand. In its place, I used mānuka, along with civet, to give the blend a deeper, more primal allure. It’s a new favorite of mine.
